Zhang Yi
Every night, after curfew, I listened to the radio program before falling asleep. In the Teachers College of Nanjing (Chinese people often called it Normal University), I shared a dormitory suite with three other young people, all listened to the same show, which was called Return at the Metropolitan Night, on the music radio station. The host, Zhang Yi, who was in her late twenties and not married, had originally come from Hunan. She was scheduled to go on air at eleven.
